Welcome to the Hunting Portal — HP for short, a premiere destination for all things hunting. What started as a simple note in a notepad 12 years ago blossomed into reality in 2024 when three lifelong friends, united by their passion for hunting and outdoor adventure, decided to revolutionize the hunting industry. Hunting Portal is an Outfitter, Taxidermist, and Hunting Support Eco-system built to help outfitters worldwide harness technology and media to book more clients without the expense. We want to help grow the hunting community by solving in-your-face problems at scale, and bringing together communities to foster innovation, pass down traditions, and develop the industry we love so much.
Meet The Founding Team
Jacques van Heerden
Jacques’ hunting journey began at seven when he shot his first buck, hunting was a family tradition creating memories and providing meat for the family. At nine, he picked up his first recurve bow, igniting a passion for archery. This early start in both hunting and archery shaped his future, honing his skills in a culture where these activities were deeply ingrained. Jacques’ natural talent and dedication led to success in competitive archery, setting records in IBO and SAANA events. His lifelong passion for hunting and the outdoors eventually culminated in founding his own hunting-related business, combining his expertise and love for these pursuits.
Evert Bezuidenhout
Evert’s lifelong passion for the outdoors, nurtured by his father’s early hunting lessons, has shaped his life and career. By age 12, he was hunting independently, and this love for nature led him to become a guide, allowing him to share his enthusiasm with others. Now, Evert eagerly anticipates passing his knowledge to the next generation of young hunters in his family. He’s excited to witness their first hunts, reminiscent of his own experiences 25 years ago, and looks forward to inspiring a new wave of outdoor enthusiasts while continuing this cherished legacy.
Tabu Burger
Tabu developed a profound connection with nature and wildlife while growing up on the family farm. His early years were filled with outdoor adventures and wildlife documentaries that fueled his curiosity. Family hunting traditions during winter holidays introduced him to tracking and understanding animal behavior. At age 8, he experienced his first successful hunt, igniting a lifelong passion that would shape his future. This dedication led him to pursue and earn his Professional Hunter (PH) license, deepening his expertise in wildlife management and conservation. Today, he uses his knowledge to support his family while guiding others in experiencing the wilderness responsibly, made possible through his partnership with HP.
